8 Must-Have Travel Supplies and Accessories
Travel Supplies and Accessories can really make your trip. With a little thought and some pre-planning, you can be prepared no matter if your travel is for business or pleasure.
It’s all about the bag. Carry-on bag or checked bag? Do you need a bag that fits under the seat? Is it an overnight trip or a weekend trip? Do you prefer 2 Wheels or 4 Spinner Wheels? Select a bag that meets the needs of your particular trip. Most importantly, only pack what you can carry. Are your cords, chargers, and cables all tangled up in your bag? ebags Cord Cube will organize your backpack, duffel, briefcase, or luggage nice and tidy. This small packing cubes has a zip around closure with five mesh retainer pockets, a center section for versatile storage, and elastic straps that make it easy to contain all sort of cords and cables.

Pack a snack. Never leave home without food in your bag. Almonds, Chex mix, pretzels, protein bars. Road trip or airplane trip. Doesn’t matter. Nothing makes traveling grumpier, than an empty stomach and no food in sight.
Comfortable Shoes. This should go without saying. Sneakers, Sandals, Flip Flops, Crocs. Whatever works for you. I don’t like my bare feet to touch hotel carpet, so I keep a favorite pair of Crocs Crocband flip flops in my suitcase at all times. Great to wear to the pool and beach, rinse and dry, and re-pack. Flip flops go with (almost) any outfit.
Basic Toiletries. Take what you NEED for the trip. Travel size item toiletries really make the difference for a short trip or in your carry-on bag. Again, this goes back to #1. Get the right size toiletry bag to fit in your tote bag, carry-on bag or checked bag. I prefer a FLAT toiletry kit. Yes, that sounds weird, but it is amazing just how much you can pack in the Pack-it-flat Toiletry kit by ebags! I have tried many different bags, but I always come back to this one. Lies flat in your suitcase like a pair of jeans. OR it slides nicely into your tote bag. No more bulky toiletry kits. See how nicely in the picture, it lies FLAT in your suitcase?
Noise Reduction Headphones. If you do any flying, you can see the value of these. Noisy seatmates, no problem. Crying babies, no problem. Perfect for nosiy neighbors in hotel rooms. Bose Noise Canceling Headphones are expensive, but they drown out everything.
Travel First Aid Kit. You can buy this pre-packaged in a small and compact travel kit. Or you can make your own with a zip lock bag. Pack the basics. Pain killers, band aids, antiseptic, antacids, tweezers, small scissors, lip balm, Kleenex, and whatever you use regularly. Sunscreen and insect repellent is a good idea. I always take extra gallon zip lock bags for wet bathing suits, or liquids that may leak.
Pack the right clothes. It is always cold on airplanes. Take a jacket and spare socks on board, if you are wearing sandals. Even better, bring your own blanket. Blankets are great for the car on road trips. There are many blankets on the market made for travel that are compact and machine washable. If you need a new travel blanket, or one to keep in the car, check out Fanatics! They have a great selection of favorite sports teams blankets and throws. Don’t forget a travel blanket or bed for Fido. Fanatics also offers pet gear!
Less is More. My rule of thumb when it comes to packing is, “When in doubt leave it out.” If it is an item you don’t usually wear or use at home, you probably won’t wear it or use it when traveling. Leave it out and save room for some awesome travel gifts!
